World Polio Day is October 24th.  This year District 7090 organized a bike ride to support fundraising efforts to eradicate Polio worldwide.  District 7090 also had Buffalo's Electric Tower lit up in Rotary colors.
The Rotary Club of Hamburg sponsored a riding team headed by Tom Nemmer.  The team started at the Rainbow Bridge and rode to Youngstown, cruised through Fort Niagara State Park, onto Lockport where they stopped for lunch then headed back to the Rainbow Bridge.  Winds picked up in the afternoon making the ride back quite a challenge!  In total they rode 65.6 miles.  Their trip took 5 hours and 38 minutes with an elevation gain of 1,731 feet.  Thank you Tom and his team.

It is not too late to support this team.  You can donate a flat amount or pledge by the mile.  All donations are appreciated and will go towards Polio eradication.  For more information on the eradication efforts and how close the world is to being Polio free visit www.rotary.org.
